Explain why God confused the people at Babel by changing their languages.
Genesis 11:4 Then they said, “come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” Genesis 11:6-7 The Lord said, “ If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” The men built the city and the tower for making a name for themselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole each. How cocky they are! Only the name of the Lord is worthy of respect like this. Men were filled with sinful things, can the Lord permit them do the thing only He worth it? If He permits, the sinful things will spread more quickly in the world. And God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. If they don’t want to be scatted over the face of the whole earth, this opposes to God’s will. So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city.God never do wrong things

August 27, 2007D 2 The call of Abram
August 27, 2007Genesis 12:1-4 The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your country, your people and your father’s household and go to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram left, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Haran. Hebrew 11:8 “By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” I don’t know how Abram had such great faith like this. He came from Ur of the Chaldeans, a place full of idols and paganism. How can he believe in the only true God in such an evil place? This can only be described as God’s grace. He was the person especially chose by God, through him God began the plan of salvation, however, Abram is a good example of faith, we should imitate him. May God strengthen my faith. Hebrew 11:1 “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” It’s human’s fault that we don’t believe in God’s Word easily even though God say so, because we can not see the future. But God is faithful; we should obey to God’s will even though it’s difficult to understand. God, I am here, if you will, call me, use me.

August 21, 2007Babylon was a city of ancient Mesopotamia, the ruins of which can be found in present-day Al Hillah, Babil Province; Iraq about 80km south of Baghdad. It was the “holy city” of Babylonia from around 2300 BC, and the seat of the Neo-Babylonian Empire from 612 BC. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
Plentiful evidence of historical, archaeological and palaeoclimatic studies proved that an abrupt change from wetter to drier climate occurred over the Nile Valley, the Mesopotamia, the Indus Valley and Huanghe River Valley at 2200BC-2000BC. The abrupt change was developed based on the general lowering of temperature in the middle latitudes, and was a strong cold event since the beginning of the Megathermal (8.5-3.0 kaBP). Collapse of Nile civilization appeared at the First Intermediate Period (2181BC-2040BC). Civilization of Mesopotamia began collapse following the disintegration of Akkadian Empire. This process lasted to the foundation of Babylon Kingdom from 2200BC to 1900BC. Indus civilization abruptly fell off at 1800BC. A widespread alternation of archaeological cultures happened in China at ca. 2000BC except only in its central part. Longsheng culture was replaced by the Erlitou culture, which is now acknowledged in China as Xia Culture. Foundation of Xia Dynasty at 2070BC opened a new chapter in the development of Chinese civilization. Studies indicated that abrupt climate change may be caused by the weakening of the Thermohaline Circulation (THC).

August 21, 2007OT devotionalJesus Christ defeat Satan Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel. In this verse, Moses prophesied Jesus’ victory before Satan. Also in Psalm 110:1 David said: “The Lord says to my Lord: ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.’ This verse was quoted by Hebrew’s author in Hebrew 1:13 to which of the angels did God ever say, “Sit at my right hand and I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” In David’s period, when you won and killed your enemy, you can put his head as your footstool. If Jesus defeat Satan and use Satan’s head as His footstool, He will crush Satan’s head, and Satan will strike his heel. According to God’s will, Jesus Christ endured the sufferings on the earth; He was crucified and died on the cross, but after three days, His resurrection from death announced His triumph before Satan. Bible keeps amazing high consistency. Bible is a wonderful book, so wonderful, you can not imagine it was from human’s wisdom, The Bible transcends all the philosophies in the history, and how can it be like this, we can only explain it was God’s word. This is the only one rational explanation.
